Tsagaan Sar Festival

Mongols have been celebrating Lunar  New Year for more than 2000 years. Each year of the 12-year cycle of the Lunar Calendar is named after one of twelve animals: Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and PigStill now, Mongolian New Year is a nationwide holiday, celebrated as a greeting of Spring, when nature and animals awaken and people are inspired for new life and deeds. At this time, Buddhist monasteries throughout Mongolia are full of people who pray for the both past and living ones, and streets filled with people wearing deel, the national costume, and celebrating. Join us for Tsagaan Sar and experience winter Mongolia with sports games, cultural traditional song festivals and other cultural events.
